Privacy Policy

The short version
FloatSnap does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Your screenshots never leave your Mac. We don't track you, we don't use analytics, and we don't sell data because we don't have any.
What FloatSnap does NOT collect
- Screenshots or screen content
- Personal files or documents
- Browsing history or app usage
- Location data
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
- Analytics or telemetry
Screen recording permission
FloatSnap requests macOS Screen Recording permission solely to capture the area of the screen you select. The captured image is stored only in local memory and is never uploaded, transmitted, or saved anywhere unless you explicitly choose to save it to a file.
License activation
When you activate a license key, FloatSnap sends the following to Lemon Squeezy's API:
- Your license key
- Your Mac's local hostname (e.g., "Dave's MacBook Pro")
This is used solely to validate and activate your license. No other information is transmitted. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs how they handle this data: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
Auto-updates (Sparkle)
FloatSnap uses the open-source Sparkle framework to check for updates. When checking, Sparkle may send your macOS version and app version to our update server. No personal information is included. You can disable automatic update checks in the app.
OCR text recognition
Text recognition is performed entirely on your Mac using Apple's Vision framework. No text, images, or data are sent to any server for OCR processing.
Data storage
- Trial start date — stored locally in UserDefaults
- License key and activation status — stored in your Mac's Keychain
No data is stored on our servers.
Third-party services
- Lemon Squeezy — processes payments and license keys. Their privacy policy
Children's privacy
FloatSnap is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the changes here with an updated date. Since we don't collect your data, we have no way to notify you directly — just check back if you're curious.
