About FloatSnap
One developer, one small app, one job done well.
Who makes this
FloatSnap is built by a solo indie developer under the HumorMedia banner. No company, no investors, no growth team — one person who needed a tool, built it, and figured other people might need it too.
Every support email goes to a real inbox that a real person reads: [email protected].
Why it exists
The problem is universal: you need to look at one thing while typing into another. An invoice while doing data entry. A design while writing CSS. An error log while fixing the bug. Without a second monitor you end up flipping between windows, losing your place each time.
FloatSnap turns any region of your screen into a floating sticky note — a pixel-accurate screenshot that stays on top of every window until you click it away. That's the whole product, on purpose.
Why it's $5
Because a screenshot utility should not be a subscription. $5 once, lifetime license, all updates included, activates on up to 5 Macs. The math works because the app is small and the infrastructure is nearly nonexistent — there are no servers processing your data, because your data never leaves your Mac.
The privacy stance
FloatSnap is deliberately lightweight — a 1.4 MB download that lives in your menu bar. There is no account system, no telemetry, and no cloud component:
- Nothing is stored. Screenshots exist only on your screen until you dismiss, copy, or save them. No hidden library, no folder filling up.
- Nothing is uploaded. Capture, annotation, and OCR (Apple's on-device Vision framework) all run locally.
- Nothing is tracked. The app contains zero analytics. We couldn't see your screenshots even if we wanted to — there's no server for them to go to.
The one network call the app ever makes is activating your license key after purchase. Details in the privacy policy.
